8 Nova Scotian communities to participate in Day of Action
“Health Care for People, Not for Profit!”
In the middle of the Federal election campaign, 8 communities in Nova Scotia have answered a call from the Nova Scotia Citizens’ Health Care Network to participate in a Day of Action against the privatization of the public health care system.
Health Network activists will decorate the downtown cores of targeted communities with ribbons that say “VOTE MEDICARE: Health Care for People, Not for Profit”.
In Halifax, the Health Network will participate in the national launch of an exhaustive report, over 150 pages, documenting every private clinic in the country and all of the violations of the Canada Health Act that are occurring.
Actions will take place in:
Halifax – 10:00 am, corner of Lacewood and Dunbrack, activists will decorate the area with the ribbons and hand them out to motorists at this intersection. Tatamagouche – 1:30 pm, Starting in front of the Foodland in Tatamagouche. Activists will decorate the main street with the ribbons and hand them out to individuals. Organized by the North Shore Citizens’ Health Committee. Contact: Judy Davis at (902) 657-3371.
